Taillight & Blinker issues
Morning Everyone -
New to the forum - first post. I recently bought a 2001 XJR with 145k. The car is having issues with tail lights and blinkers; I'm hoping to learn from all of your knowledge and experience.
Here's the story....
When i bought the car I was told that the front right blinker had failed just a few days ago. The car is sending 'check rear lights' warning at the dash and the right front blinker is only drawing approx. .5 - .8 volts while 'flashing' while the left front works and is pulling 3.5 - 7.5 while flashing. I've check for obvious fuses and broken wires nothing.
Also - I noticed something fish. Someone had installed a 'after market' ground wire from the rear marker lights 'through' the left taillight connections' ground to the right tail lights connections' ground and ending at the negative post on the batter. I disconnected that mess yesterday - no change to the existing problem.
What works
I spent last night checking each fuse & relay box (2 @ engine, 2 under rear seats, 1 in trunk) and all fuses are O.K.. The front blinker bulb is brand new, connections cleaned, dielectric grease.
Anyone have any thoughts? trouble shooting test? something I'm not aware of? Relay to test?
thanks in advance
