If you can, watch your windscreen being replaced !!!!

I had a crack start in my windshield (all I'm saying is it appeared after I put on a new wiper blade)
Safelite came out to install it at the house, he got the glass out and I was watching, as he scraped away the old sealant we found a rust spot next to the VIN # Plate.
Before doing anything

After wire brushing

After phosphate treatment

and down the passenger side(smaller)

He advised repairing the rust and decided to order a new surround rubber as he said the old one might be too old (car is a '99 with 203K on it) surround is covered under insurance as it's part of the windscreen assembly.
So I'm sanding and treating the areas with Klean Strip phosphate strip and prep(home depot $16 a gallon). wait 24 hours and then etch primer and paint
prior to putting a new windscreen in. Safelite will call me when they get the surround in.
