Default Tires for a 99 XJ8

My brother is giving me his 99 XJ8! (sorry it is the only one he has to give away). He is even going to buy me new tires. He has endless amounts of money (retired wall street executive) and I was wondering which tires to get. I will not drive the car in snow and would like a quiet ride while being able to handle corners nicely. Should I get a v or z rating? Which brand do you like?

Hi Jomo,

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus (All Season). Size: 225/60ZR16.
These were on the XJ8 when I bought it last year, they run quiet and ride nice, but I think that it's more of an individual's taste.
When you do get the your XJ8 please post some pictures and some information including mileage and color etc.
You have very generous brother!

I have V rated Cooper tires from Pep Boys.
Yes, I know! But they perform well.

The PO had a new set of Enduro 916 tyres fitted (budget, directional tread), the noise/vibration-on-breaking was unbelievable and led me to having the front wheel bearings changed (unnecessary it turned out, but at 100k+ miles would have been due soon).
I have just changed the front 2 for Goodyear Efficient Grip and most of the noise is now gone (a faint humming from the rear 2) - they seemed the best choice in terms of quality/price/noise level/fuel efficiency etc. The relief I cant describe as the noise has been driving me ****** nuts for 6 months, and when my budget allows I'll change the rear 2 also.
The two cost me around 230 english pounds all in.
Just my 5p worth.
