Default top strut mount replacement

I need to change out my top front strut mounts on my 2000 xj8 VDP I have ordered the parts and it looks like I need to remove the nylock nut from the suspension rod and then the bolts that hold the mount then replace the new mounts and bolt it up. Does that sound about right ?? What is the torque on these anybody. Also it does not has active air. Part # 5 Thanks stuart

Lots of threads on how to do this. Run a search. I, personally, had written at least four threads.

It is pretty simple. You have to hold the shock rod (vice grips) and turn off the nut; lift the car slightly to take pressure off the suspension; unbolt the hold down bolts; on left side, you will have to move the power steering reservoir out of the way; remove the old unit; place the new unit; bolt it up; bolt the shock up (vice grips again); lower the car. Drive it and enjoy. And -- if you bought new mounts from the dealer or bought a rebuild kit, you made a mistake.

Lots of threads: one from Old Mike, back three years or so, even has pictures for the basic steps.

This should help, the search function on this site can be clunky.

That's the good one. And the last point the most important -- replacement mounts from RockAuto (or other suppliers) make the job super easy and much better than the repair kits which get very hard and chatter in cold weather.

Thank you for the replies I have bought complete replacement parts ready to go and the pictures work for me.This will be my first repair to the car, and I am still trying to find a good repair book. My stag repair book is really good so this week end I will be working on both of them.Again thanks I need to spend more time working on this forum.
