Default Trunk/bonnet won't open

I have a 2000 xjr and the trunk won't open. When the car is on it beeps and has valet mode on the dash. I've tried using the valet key, unlocking it with the regular key and pushing the valet button. Any suggestions?

The trunk is the boot in English. If you have a remote, that will take it out of valet mode, but maybe the lock is not functioning.

It may be that you have two valet keys. Carefully compare the ends of the keys, the ignition key has an extra land machined there.

Pushing the valet button does not take it out of valet mode.

Thanks, my english is a little rust. Lol. Yes, I have a black key I've used for years and a green key I never touch. This happened during a a shift at work. It opened before I left and didn't on my way home. Is there any way to bypass the switch or manually open the boot?

Use the search. Several threads have info on going in through a hole under the license plate, but I have no experience of doing so.

Try this approach: using the black key (not the green valet key), put the key in the key slot at the boot and turn the key. If that doesn't work, spray some WD40 in the key slot and work the key some more.

If that doesn't work search for the directions to open it using the under license plate hole that RJ mentioned above.

When you do get it open, check the wires going through the right boot/trunk lid hinge in a bundle. Common fault that one or more will break when flexing. Mine had the boot/trunk light wire break and that caused it to not be able to come out of valet mode. Strange but true. Lots in the archives about this problem.
