Default O2 sensor wire splicing.

If you got the ones that you have to splice it is likely they don't work as I had to send mine back. When you're in Amozon just pick any sensor, after you pick there'll be a box on the right side that asks for your year make and model so you get the right sensor and it'll list out 6-7 sensors, make sure you pick the one for upstream, it's the only one that's $60.78 and the number is 15627. You don't need to splice, it comes with a plug that fits perfectly. Besides, when you splice the connectors could melt against the heatshield and may short out the ECM, which may in turn cost you thousands for a replacement. Safer to go with the ones with connectors already installed.......

Thanks, Icebreaker!

I changed the two upper O2 sensors as per your instructions.
Pushed the expansion tank aside, took off the large hose (I had drained the radiator to change the thermostat) and heat shield and there it was, the LH sensor! Removed the sensor with a 22mm crowsfoot.
Car idles better and is more responsive to the throttle.
Great idea!

Dan

Very informative post chaps - off to change my two upstream sensors without going to a garage to use a ramp - bet it starts to rain.

The coat hanger trick is an interesting one and will certainly be used!

Just gone to the garage to get started and it has started to hail - is this an omen - how hard can this job be?

HAs anybody had a ****** from the gearbox whe the engine is cold and hot?
It is an intermittant fault and I am wondering if it is anything caused by the Upstream oxygen snesors which are afulty and about to be changed?

If it is not cured by the replacement sensors, then I may have to look at a rebuild of the gearbox. Great idea sealing the boxes so you cannot check, replace or add transmission oil!
