2002 XJR. Problem is that I have global window roll down at inappropriate times. I have not noticed a complete pattern but here are some instances I have noticed recently.

1) Sitting in a running car, turn ignition off and doors remain locked. Pull the door handle to get out, the door unlocks and all windows roll down. 2) Use the FOB to unlock or lock the doors and the windows global roll down. 3) Doors unlocked, windows closed, pull the handle from the outside and all the windows roll down.

These are inconsistent in that they are not completely repeatable. Sometimes it does it and other times not. Just wondering if anybosy has had this issue and resolved it before I start digging into the circuit diagrams. BTW I have already done the system reboot several times and it has not solved the problem.

 

Sometimes if you do a hard reset for a long time like overnight you get better results

A hard reset is different then just removing the battery positive cable

What I found on my X300 is the driver door master controller even though the connector was installed the lock bar on the connector that holds the wire pins in place had come loose

this allowed the pins and sockets from making contact

Your intermittence may be these contacts being on the edge of badness

Yes, I remove the NEG cable and short it to the POS terminal for 30 seconds. I've got an inspection due this month so I need to get the I/M's to reset and get it inspected before I proceed.

Its awful annoying to turn the car off, get out and try to lock the door only to have the windows roll down. Then I have to get back in, stick the key in the ignition, roll the windows up and hope it doesn't do it again. I had the driver door panel off recently for another issue and checked the connectors. Nothing looked amiss and the problem started long before I messed with the panel.

I take both battery terminals off and use a battery jumper cable to join the cables

place a towel across the battery post

 

Readiness monitors. I had a couple that were stubborn to reset to active last time I disconnected the battery. I want to get it inspected before I disconnect the battery again.

 

Following back from all 4 window motors, they have to be receiving a network command for global roll down. Its still a guess at this point but I got the manual out and tried exercising all the lock/window functions as described for both fob and key operations. Everything works as it should. When the windows roll down, it appears to be related to a twitchy lock/handle on the driver side door. My guess at this point is something is not quite right in there.
