Have you done it yet - leant right over your lovely V8 trying to see the heater pump or alternator - and 'Crack'?!
Those horrid shiny black pipes just split apart as easy as anything.
Heatshrink is the answer - get on eBay and order some high temp heatshrink right away (4mm to 8mm) and put it in your toolbox.
The HT stuff is more expensive than the normal heatshrink - but worth every penny when you break a pipe.
