It will, as technically any vehicle with a 4 stroke petrol engine will run on ethanol. The problems are the mapping, the materials and the consumption.
Some materials, like Nikasil, are supposed to be reactive to ethanol resulting in the coating crumbling off causing issues.
The mapping of the ECU will need some tweaking for coldstart purposes or a two tanknsystem, using normal fuel to start up on and to switch over to ethanol.
Ethanol has less energy content, resulting in a higher consumption.
These points all refer to a high percentage of ethanol, either E85 or E100. Normal fuel contains between 5 and 10% (so E5-E10) in Europe and these cars burn it easily ith no hassles. I have tried E85 in a blend on my 3.2l (resulting in an E50 blend) and the cold start was a lttle tough. It still started and ran well when it was running. The consumption was a lot higher though, I mean an awful lot higher!

Could anyone tell me if I could run my X308 on bio-ethanol ?
Thank you.
Takeo.
Your car can run on anything up to 10% ethanol of any type, not just bio-ethanol. Originally Posted by Takeo

It is not rated by Jag as being able use a higher percentage.

Hello, thank you all for your advice.
My X308 now runs on E10 (10 % Ethanol) and starts and runs just fine. No cold start problems at all.
Average fuel consumption in town, small lanes, hilly country is about 12.5 liters per 100 Km. Highway at about 120 Km/hr = 9-10 liters /100 Km on average. I think this is not bad.
One funny thing, though, is that my exhaust pipes are always jet black and sooty instead of grey.
Regds,
Takeo.

I run E85 - as you can see eth% is 68%. at the moment. This is still winter blend. Summer one gives over 80%. The car is flexfuel, so boxes change fueling based on measured ethanol content.
