My 99 has the premium sound system, but the subwoofer was removed.

Nearest Dealer tells me the speaker is no longer available.

I read several archives, but have not found a listing for a replacement aftermarket subwoofer that fits the same opening and has the same shallow depth.

Ideas?

as I understand pre-2000 MY is Harmon Kardon and post 2000 MY is Alpine.

but I will go aftermarket if I will do my sub-woofer upgrade

 

The rear sub is dual voice coil, 2 channels from the amp. If you can locate a shallow-ish depth dual channel 6x9 you can spacer it up into the grill. The factory sub has a 20mm spacer. They're 4Ohm from memory.

 

I purchased a 6" X 9" Custom Autosound Model 3006 Dual Voice Coil Upgrade Speaker.

Mounted in factory location. I was able to use original grill as can be seen in the photos. I made four spacer blocks from 3/4" thick plywood size 1" X 1/2".

I had to cut off the original connectors and use crimp on blade terminals.

Wires were connected as follows:

Red = +
Blue = gnd

Slate = +
Pink = gnd
