hi all,
i have a xj8 2001 thats needs a touch up kit,but the code sticker is worn, and cant see the code
took car to jag indy who got code from chassis number ,which was passed to jag dealer?, who came back with CGG.
i have a kit from a company called the scratch doctor who supplied 811 CFS, he is adament that CGG and CFS are the same.
can anyone who has more paint know how confirm this is the case, with this colour, so have 2 kits with same code thats not a perfect match at moment.
any help would be much appreciated

I bought paint from these folks. It matched well. You can see samples on the site too.

Just as well the Doctor is the prescribing kind!
Both CGG and CFS are CARNIVAL RED metallics. The difference is that CGG is a standard metallic with aluminium flakes but CFS is a pearl metallic with mica flakes. This gives the paint greater depth and reflection.
Probably not too critical with touch-in but it becomes a real concern when refinishing individual panels on a vehicle.

Exactly the same occurs with Sapphire Metallic from years 1998 to 2002...they are three different batches.
