xj8 driver's door solenoid
Does any one know if a solenoid from another door will work (form, fit, function) in my driver's side door. Driver's door latch assemblies are expensive and hard to find. The latch works fine, but the solenoid that works it is shot on my 2000 Jaguar xj8. I can't imagine that Jag didn't make them common, but we are talking about a jag. Thanks for any help you can provide!
Will the door unlock using the master lock/unlock switch at the top left of the center console? Mine won't unlock when I pull the handle, so that's what I have to do and if I don't push the button before shutting down the engine, I can use the fob. So, I know my problem is not the solenoid; it's either the door module or the switch inside the latch. I have some codes showing up in the module, but I need to pull the latch out and see if I can get to the switch before I order a door module.
Have you tried Jaguar Heaven over in Stockton?

Hi, I ended up getting a lock assembly from a rear driver's side door on line. The solenoid is compatible with the driver's door; in fact, the lock mechanism assembly is common so I jut installed it as is! Thanks for the reply . . . Bill
