XJ8 engine swap questions

so I own 98 XJ8L with the dreaded nikasil problem with 114k miles and it's starting to show early symptoms of liner failure (hard time starting when cold) although once it's warmed up it's fine. I've located several low mile engines from 2002 to 2003 xj8s however I know they wear different engine designations. does anyone for a fact if these two are compatible? I assume minor parts probably have to transfered to the new engine from the original but as far as motor mount, transmission, ecu etc would they all work together?
Your 98 model should have the VVT's in the timing cover and the later motors will have them in the valve covers. If these are in different places, it's the kiss of death on the swap.
You may also find a difference in the number of oil pressure sensors by the oil filter. Check those to see if they have one or two sensors and if it matches what you have.
If all these match up, swap away! (but I doubt it[:@])
