Hi,

this autumn I bought a Jaguar XJ8 Executive from 2001 (mileage 90,000), and I've loved it from day 1. However, sometimes, I find it very difficult to start the car. It's not the battery, since I also tried having it replaced with a new one. It's been checked at a garage 3 times in 3 months, and there is no final conclusion as to what seems to be the problem.
The thing is that I cannot predict the problem... there is no 'system'.
Sometimes I cannot start it at all - it just cranks without starting the engine, but if my buddy's around, he can start it, but then again, he has a very subtle gas pedal touch and I believe that's the main reason why he manages to get it started. It takes him a minute or two, and he has to use quite a lot of gas, and it's very noisy (how much longer will my neighbours be patient with me...?)
There are no other problems, except from very rare car 'shivers' on the freeway... which are very annoying, since I feel that the whole car will come to pieces, but again, this happens very rarely, and only lasts a couple of seconds.

Any comments on this would be highly appreciated.
