xj8 starting problem
Hi all, I have a1997 3.2 v8 xj sport, all was fine until one morning I went to go to work and she would not start.she cranks but does not fire.
I have replaced the spark plugs, checked the fuel pressure all is fine.I then hooked up a fault code reader and it kept reading crank sensor/Camb sensor. So I replaced both sensors and still will not fire. When I crank her over the rev counter does read the engine revs.At the moment I'm puzzled!! Any help would be much appreciated cheers all.p

Did you reset the codes after replacing the sensors? Be sure to do a search (top of the forum), there are a couple of threads on this. I would also be very suspect of the MAF.
Most definitely, the MAF controls your air fuel mixtures. You could be flooding the cylinders or not getting any fuel to them at all if it isn't functioning properly. If you are going to try and clean it, use a MAF only cleaner or you'll nuke it. It may be nuked already? Someone had a starting issue awhile back, unplugged the MAF and it started, possibly it goes into a default mode. You can try it, but no guarantees. I am not very familiar if at all with the 97, but I highly suggest using this...http://www.jagrepair.com/S-TypeTSB.htm ...it has become somewhat of a bible for reference. Use the site search, it has TSB's, training sections, pdf manuals and lots of other points.
Reset those codes also, the computer will still react to them if they are still sending a fault.
