Unhappy 1989 XJR 3.6ltr Dash lights problem!

I just bought a Jaguar 1989 XJR, 3.6ltr... The problem right now is with the dash lights. The needle speedometer is working fine but the digital lights on the dash which is right below it and the left side of the needle speedo which are fuel, battery, temperature etc are turning on at times but staying off mostly. The digital odo and speed which are at the bottom they can still be seen a lil in the night as they are very dull to be seen during the day.
I hope my problem makes any sense but can you please help me figure how major is the problem. Can it be fixed at home by me or am I to go see an auto electrician? Just not sure how big the job might endup being or is it a small thing.

Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanking in advance

Well I took it to the Auto Electrician and he without coming out to see the car quoted $250 for having a look n would fix it if possible or most probably would have to send it to the instrument guys which would cost more depending on what they need to do to fix which can be anywhere close to another $400.
I thought it might be him trying to rip off so found this business called Jaguar Specialist locally and assumed they would be able to help for sure, hence the name. The guy there said its just a loose wiring at the back and he shall have it done in a couple of days and should cost around a couple of hundred. Its been a week and the guy hasn't done it. He yesterday said he opened the dash up and checked but nothing he could fix so had it sent to a instrument repair guys who are busy and shall have it done by monday and it is going to cost more. I was a little upset as he never informed me about all this and just took the liberty of sending things away and is now quoting around $550-600 for the whole job. Am not happy with him right now and would have got it done by the guys I met first if I knew these guys were going to charge the same and dont know much either.... I got sucked in by their business name Jaguar Specialist lol
Anyhow hoping for this to be a lesser costing job and gets fixed atleast by monday this time.
If you getting it done I would suggest try finding the Instrument and Odometer specialist who deal with such things. Coz it would just cut these middle men (auto electricians) trying to rip you off by opening the dash and sending the instrument to get fixed by someone else.

Let me know if you get it done and how much you saved and what the problem was..
