Default 1993 gearshift interlock

I got another Doozy...I'll explain for those who have not read my intro.
My neighbor(72yr old), her husband of 42yrs recently passed away. He re-tired from the U.S. Navy as a Submariner...I guess during his more free time, he tried to 'fix' things himself. The cap on the gearshift interlock, i found...but its workings or what parts 'were' there are no longer...I havent gone internet'ting deep yet as to find out what's there 'or' whats not there. I have to put a drill bit in the hole to move the J handle(ha! im learning Jaguar lingo)

Anyways, any help or direction will be greatly appreciated in learning this project, the car hasn't moved in several yrs and its starting to show...Luckily the woman has some money left from the passing of her husband, we're out in the middle of the country and there are no Jag. mechanics within 200 miles probably.

Do you mean the shift knob that screws on to the shifter?

Default No such luck?

Any idea where to find what i'm looking for, yet?

i did a 'google' search and many came back to this site...To different model's of Jaguars that have had the same problem with the 'gear shift interlock' not working properly.

From what I understand, correct me if i'm wrong but, if there is an 'electrical' issue with the Jaguar's it could cause other issues such as what i'm having. My alternator isnt working properly(not charging).
