Can't seem to get to the O2 Sensor

I'm having a terrible time getting the O2 sensor off a 1990 xj6. There is no room to swing a wrench since the sensor is placed on top of the exhaust pipe. I even got the socket made for the o2 and have no room at all to put the socket wrench on and turn it. Everything is stock and there is a heat shield very close to the sensor. Can anyone tell me an easy way or what tool I need to get this thing off without messing anything up?
Thanks

Yes, it's a pain. You may need to press the heatshield down to get the socket on it. If you use a wrench, you will have to bend it at a 45 degree angle (easier said than done) and grind the outer wall of the socket end to fit inside the heatshield.
