So this morning on the way to work she started a bit rough but quickly smoothed out to her normal quiet purrr.. About half way to work the exclamation point came on with a check engine message. Fluid levels are good and the Jag is purring smoothly with no apparent issues.

If I do the VCM check will this alert me to any codes that may have been set? Also do I have the procedure straight with Key on engine off wait 10 seconds then press and hold the VCM button to pull them?

Any thoughts, advice or corrections greatly appreciated.

update:

Did the above and got a check engine 3 on the display? Anyone have a list or know where one is so I can see what it is?

Also I decided to fire up the car and she started normally and settled in to a nice idle with no check engine light showing up?

 

Isn't 3 a coolant temp sensor code, and aren't they listed in your handbook under "Specifications"?

 

No handbook came with her tried to buy one off of a member that had one up for grabs and never heard back....

While you were typing I was searching and of course you are correct JagtechOhio it's a coolant temp sensor code.

Calling my car parts place as we speak lol
