Default front wheel bearings


1990 xj6 4.0 Sovereign front wheel bearings

Anybody know offhand how much torque should be put on the wheel bearing retaining nuts?

According to Jag: tighten the adjusting nut to eliminate all play and then back the nut off slightly to provide play of .003-.001 inch.

Thanks, Ken. I had tightened them up a bit to take all the play out so it would not add to the movement when going for a mechanical fitness check. I don't want the guy to try to tell me the ball joints need replacing. I'll back them off a hair.

A hair would be about right. I'm not sure how they want us to measure between .003 & .001.
