Default Instrument cluster removal

I have a 1989 Vanden Plas with the digital dash. The odometer and the guages stopped working soo I bought a replacement from a boneyard.

How difficult is it to remove the cluster? Are there any steps for removing the portion of the dash that covers the top of the panel? The job does not look easy.

Thanks

Hi proteegolf,

I see no one responded to your question. I hope you found help somewhere. If not read on.

I have a 1988 saloon and had to remove mine this January. It's not too difficult but you need to get some reference of sorts and read it if you want to save some money when working on anything these days.

Haynes manuals I've found are NOT the best, but I still buy them if I can get them for cheap, usually used.

Here is a page from Haynes on Instrument Cluster Housing - removal and refitting. It's a pdf sheet so you can enlarge it in your reader to some extent.

Hmmm. I can't find the "add attachment" button. Perhaps I am too new to the forum and not permitted to do so. I'll have to figure out some other way.

Yes, I see written at the bottom
  1. I may not post attachments and
  2. I may not edit my posts

No worries. Here is the link to the pdf sheet I promised.

I hope it helps you and/or the next reader.
