I had a power steering fluid leak. Had a 1m long hose replaced with steel pipe and unions as couldn't get replacement hose. Now when turning the wheel when parked or driving very slowly I get a groan noise from engine bay. Can anyone advise?

 

Could be a weak pump. That is the most common cause for groan.
