It could be the Fuseable Link that needs pushing together just takes a few seconds to do

No Dash Lights or No Crank? It could be the Fuseable Link that needs pushing together

Hi Jmains

If you are talking about the Fuesable Link it is on the Battery Positive Cable in the Boot/Trunk and just needs Pushing Together, its very easy to disturb, especially if you have just Changed the Battery and is a very Common Cause of No Crank or No Dash Lights and you can find a Photo of this on Page 133 No Crank No Start No Dash Lights? It Could be the Fuseable Link that needs pushing together

Hi Jmains 123

Maybe its me!

But that looks like the Battery Set up on an 6 cylinder XJS 4.0L rather than a V12

Please could you confirm that your Car is a V12 and not a Straight Six 4.0L

Hi Jmains123

It looks like you've got the 6 Litre V12 and not the 5.3 V12 in which case I'm not familiar with the Electrical System on these

So hopefully someone else will be able to help

Or reset the start inhibit switch and just try to start
where is the inhibit switch located on a 1994 jaguar j27 v12 6.0L

Start small and step by step, What have you already checked? Did you check your battery connections and make sure you've got about 12v at the battery itself? Sometimes the terminal come loose or are dirty.

Don't know how accurate this statement is for your model

The inertia switch is installed next to the fuse box in the LH end of the fascia. When activated, it de-energizes the ignition relays in the engine compartment, driver's side fascia and trunk fuse boxes. It also removes ground inputs from the BPM and windshield wiper stalk switch. This stops the engine and fuel pump, unlocks any locked door, and de-energizes unnecessary electrical systems. The switch is reset by pressing down on the rubber cap on the top of the switch. If your doors lock, windows, seats and the wipers work and the dash lights up then all should be good, but if it makes you feel better reset the inertia switch.

The wiring guide has the switch marked as P and N so it may be on the transmission or shift box on the cabin side

This would be a position switch vs. a inertia / crash switch found on later models

Jmains123,

You seem to now have 4 threads running on the same question.

Perhaps you will get a less confused set of feedback from members if you close down 3 of the threads and just leave one going.

Good luck

Paul

To get you something and a confidence booster you can provide a ground on the Black / Green color wire of the starter relay

So you would have to cut the wire and add a length of wire to reach a grounding point

This is low current so no arcing hazard

This would prove the ignition switch is working properly and is conducting well enough to control the starter relay to close

The key in the run position and not the final spring loaded final start position

I told you wrong and no harm to car if you followed previous instructions , you will just get nothing

The added ground wire will have to be clipped on a ground point and when you rotate the key fully to the start position the starter relay should close and get engine rotation

Have you swapped this relay with one of the same part # like a headlight or A / C ,but you will have to leave the ignition positive relay alone and the original installed
