Default One lucky reborn Jag.. hopefully

Hi everyone,
I was looking on Jags for some time and 15 -16 yaers ago I just started to love XJ.. I was looking for X300 with manual and than with new girlfriend all hopes were lost :-D... Little more than Year ago, my freind did find one for sale from known source.. We did look at it and decided that this beauty is going home with us.. OK towed more precisely.. only two cilinders did say hello, was smoking like steam train and needs to be registered.. BUT it was JAG..:-) After some work We did find that injectors were blocked so with another used set it started on 5cyl.. with new sparkplugs all 6.. Fuel pump was replaced but vorking only connected directly on car bat..(fortunately it seems to be just bad fuse from old locked fuel pump).. long story short.. it lives.. not great but lives.. it had bad throttle response so I did clean throttle body and TPS - no big improvemet.. what can be problem? if I open throttle slowly, it is OK-ish but fast it seems like i want to die.. it is drive-able but not good at all..

Congratulations on your 'new' XJ40! Good to hear of another one being rescued. It looks to be in nice condition but obviously hasn't been driven in a while. A full overhaul of fuel and ignition systems is probably the best approach. How long had the car been standing? how old is the fuel? what colour was the smoke?
So you have new injectors, fuel pump and plugs. In addition I'd be checking and/or replacing plug leads, fuel filter, air filter, renew the fuel (possibly flush the tank) and run a compression test.

You say you changed the plugs. Did you do any check of the plug wires or check cap and rotor? The lattice wheels look good on there, I may need to borrow the ones off my wifes car.....

I did not check wires but cap was cleaned.. after cleaning it seems to be running on all 6.. but still hesitates to accelerate - how offen did TPS fails completly?

Lattice are great as well as factory sport packet ( 16" Lattice, LSD diff, stiffer suspension and working SLS :-o.. )

So anyway.. some update.. fuelpump is dead again.. probably bad fuel or dirt in fueltank so fueltank out and check... Anyway there is still problem with transmition - LED on dash and it seems not to me shifting... like in limp mode or something - what to check? where to look..?
