OVERHEATING...PART 2
I did a little more research on the cooling systems and how they operate through a few different tech articles. This is referring to my 1993 XJ6 overheating problems before. I hadn't started it in about a week so I had to charge it the other day and then let it ran for a half an hour, about 20 mins longer than I normally do. I came back out and it was running warm! I'd say a notch above normal operating temp. My cooling fan does work but I found out (if it's correct) that the potential problem could be the FAN CLUTCH?? which might not be kicking the fan on when just idling, which would also explain why it only starts to run warm in slow heavy city stop and go traffic. Does anybody think this could be the problem?? The article I found actually directly metioned the car would overheat in traffic if this were the problem. Or maybe the WATER PUMP PULLEY? which is controlled by the fan clutch if I'm correct. Mainetenance for any vehicle relating to waterpumps and the like are normal as you approach 100K miles. (mine has 94K) so I dont know what to do!
In my opinion after having read the info I did its gotta be something related to the waterpump and/or fan clutch. Other than that the only other thing it could be is if what's true about catalytic converters clogging up and causing the overheating, which I stated in previous post. But I'm not about to spend $400 or more on a converter w/o knowing if thats even the problem. Any help from any Jag experts out there would be greatly appreciated!!
