The one I got from my Mom only has a cassette player! Either an in-dash or a cd changer would be nice if they are still around.

The quick answer is yes. You need to make sure that the head unit and CD player are compatible and that you have the link lead to connect the two.

I did mine in 2009 see Changing a Radio.

Has anyone ever replaced the radio/casette player part of their stereo? Mine only plays through the right speakers. Or I guess I can get a stereo from a wrecking yard. Is it possible to order a OEM replacement?

That whole cassette player is within the unit of the stereo itself. Does only one side play when you use the stereo as well? Or just the cassette?

After running the cassette cleaner multiple times the left channel now plays. At first using the "Radio Shack Cleaning Fluid" the left channel would work for a minute and then stopped working again. This time I drenched it in good old rubbing alcohol as many as 10 times and now the left channel works.

Yes they are still out there, some on EBay now. Go to motors section type 1991 XJ6 Jaguar in search bar and scroll thru. Lots of stuff there some great deals to be found! That's where I've gotten nearly everything for my Jag.
Good Luck!

P.S. Check your trunk area near the DS behind the carpet lower corner that's usually where the changer cord comes in, see if it's there and check the type of connector BEFORE buying anything, also make sure the changer you buy has the cartridge, those are harder to find.

It started doing it again

I can replace it with a used one from the Jaguar service place or get a new one online. It is 20 years old.
