Tint... Tint...
Just had my XJ tinted with 35% all the way around. Looks very cool and blocks the UV which should help my hides. Also a lot cooler inside with the somewhat enemic Jag A/C not struggling as much to keep the cabin cool. Highly recomend this to any XJ owners considering tinting. The lightest shade looks classy eh wot.

illegal to put any tint on the front windows in CA....I had 5% on all and got 2 tint ticket in 2 days. Had it for 6 months before that though...must have been a memo at the sheriff's station.
just a little tint goes a long way...and as long as they can see you, they usually don't pull you over.

I counted seven windows tinted as the rear quarters are counted as a window. It is technically illegal to tint the driver and passengers windows in Alberta, but with the light shade, and given it's a Jag I'm unlikely to get tagged (Cops like easy victims, which is why they like to harrass kids and lesser cars). The arguement here is so called 'officer safety' and the police argue they need to be able to see into the vehicle.I've seen lots of vehicles driving around with dark tint even 5% (limo tint) ... the darkest on side windows. With the 35% all around, as I have on the XJ, you can still easily see inside so if I get a tag, it will make an interesting arguement in court. Beside the fine is nominal far outweighed by the 'cool factor'.

I'll tell you what, I have 3% tints all the way around from 3M on my Nissan, and no tickets for it. However, when I see cops I'm smart enough to put the windows down, just in case. Also, when I've been pulled over and harrased over it, I tell them that the car had em when I got it, and I don't really have the money to remove em! They'll just give me a break...KNOCK ON WOOD!

Wendsday I'm getting my windows tinted, I found a place with a 10 year garantee tinting the rear windows for 175 dollars.
What's a good percentage to get, I don't really know how dark the different percentages are. My dad recomended 20% tint, IDk what everyone else has. He said antything lower then 20 might be hard to see thru at night for backing up or whatever.

With 3% it's nearly impossible to back up at night, but with the hatch it makes it more difficult so I wouldn't know how it would be on a regular sedan! Then again 3% doesn't even let you see into the car during the day with your face on the window and your hands shading the light!

I had 5% all around, got i ticket for it after about a year. only got the ticket cos the pig didnt have anything else on me, my windows were down and i was assked to put em up. Its true that u cant see anything at night, i usually put on my rear fogs to give me a little extra light. 5% doess look real good, but for being able to see out of it at night, i wud reccomend 20% as it still looks goon on the outside, and allows u to see a lot more at night.

I went with 35% or the lightest availabe here. Keep in mind the more glass tinted, the more overal darkness. The higher the number, the more visable light it lets through. (Limo tint is around 5%) All modern tints stop UV at around 99% I got all seven windows on my XJ40 done for $300.00 Cdn. Look forthe metalic tint which has a lifetime warranty against fading, something common on older lower end tint.

The tint looks great, I'm so happy i got it.
My dad picked it up for me cuz he is on sick leave for liek a month, and I went home the first thing I did was go in the garage. I rubbed the tint a little not knowing I wasnt supposed to touch it for two days, so hopefull that won't be a big problem. There was a mark where I rubbed, but it may go away?
I hope. It still looked good, and it has a ten year warranty so I could always take it back, I'd feel bad tho if it is my fault and I make them redo that window.
I'll get pictuers up next time I wash the car

You likely permanently scratched the soft tint when you rubbed it. Be prepared for it not to be covered by warranty as it's something you did. No matter if it is new or fully cured, tint is soft and will scratch. Itis fairly tough, but does need some care when cleaning.

If it doesnt go aawy they will fix it. For one thing I havent gotten the bill yet, so if they want to get paid they better be satisfied.
And I forgot to mention the main reason I rubbed it a little was because there was already a scuff mark there, and now it is just a bigger one.
So yea thats what it looks like a big scuff mark, so idk if that's scratches

It mite be a little bubbly rite now, but that ill go down after a day of 2. as for the warranty part, i think it only covers bubbling, or fade, scratches or any other dmagaes caused by anything usually isnt covered. But as its new, im sure you cud just say it was like that when u got it, and they shud fix it for you

RE: Tint... Tint...
The amount of what can bee seen depends on the lighting. For example if it's dark outside and you have an interior light on, people can see inside...Take it from an old limo driver.
It's also important in tinting what you can see at night. Wouldn't want to get in an accident with dark tint on the driver/passenger windows. Same goes for the rear if you were to back into something. Food for thought when selecting a shade of tint.
