Default What looks good on an xj40?

What style rims would look good on an 89 XJ40? I can't come up with a decision. Chrome, black, multispoke, 5 spoke. I just don't know.

If people have some pics of their cars that'd be great. I just need an idea of what to get. It's so hard to choose.

I was thinking about 20" by the way.

I ain't keen on the 20" wheels , I was using 1995-97 X300 Wheels (turbine 16") .Currently get back to 15" factory (roulette wheels ) .
I would recommend you XF wheels , they look dandy

Some of the XJ40s were built with a beautiful lattice wheel. A set of those would look great if you can find find 'em

They're old school, though, and somehow I don't think that's what you had in mind :-)

Unfortunately, XF wheels will not fit the XJ40. I'm with Doug here, some late XJ40s came with 16" lattice wheels. I really like them.

This current fad of replacing stock with large wheels and low profile tyres on cars that weren't designed for them is generally impractical and just looks downright stupid, imho.I agree with Doug, on the latticed wheels though.....Roger.

Does that mean you want some of those ultra low profile tires that look like a rubber band stretched over a wagon wheel ? The ones that look totally out of place on an older Jaguar :-) :-)

+1 for the lattice wheels.

I have seen X300 dimple wheels on the XJ40, and it looks pretty good... But those lattice wheels are just a perfect match -like pepperpot to the SIII.

Yeah much larger selection of after market BMW wheels, than Jag wheels. Must be off of a 96-03 e39 5 series BMW. I think the center bore on the jag is larger than BMW wheels, but the e39 has a larger bore than any other model BMW and they fit great on the jag.

Also the BMW wheels have a lower offset at 13mm so they line up nicely with the fender rather than being sucked into the body of the car like you would get with typical aftermarket rims.

J4g-off, 18s would look great on it. search your local part listings for BMW rims off of a 5 series, many 18s to choose from like these: http://richmond.craigslist.org/pts/2204733739.html they are good looking still have some class and look a bit like the newer XJR wheels.

I bought this white sovereign and it had the original spoke wheels. I have done a lot of research trying to find out if that was a option on the 90 Sovereign, to no avail. I am believing these are XJS wheels. So I put the original wheels on from my 90 VDP. Before and After pics. I do like the wire wheels. I and debating putting them back on, but these are so filthy and worn, brake cleaner can't get them shiny using a toothbrush no less.

Sorry, but I just can't see this ending well for that poor Jaguar.

Should be a big hit in da 'hood though.

I don't think the XJ40 can pull off the wire wheels look. The second pic looks much better IMO.

No, not XJS wheels...not even Jaguar :-)

The last Jaguar to have factory installed wire wheels was the E-type in 1974/5. Any wire wheels on a Jag after that are aftermarket.

The XK8 wheels look good on the XJ40 - better than they do on the XK8, actually. Your XJ6 is the only one I have seen with them though ArmyJag, which is strange considering they work so well.

This style of Jaguar wheel is called "Revolver" isn't it? And they're 17"?
