Default x1 / sport lights on dash and sockets under the ash tray

Hi guys,

When I turn the ignition on I can see the 'X1' ans 'Sport' light coming up. Is it only lighting up because it is there or can I actiavte this 'mode' somehow?
I do not have any switches beside the gear lever... although i have notices some sockets that are not connected to anything (under the ashtray). Is it just standard cabling prepared for additional features?

Cheers,
Tom

That's normal when you turn the ignition on all the lights come on but those X1 (actually 1/2 and Sport) come off unless you choose them .
1/2 is for snowy driving conditions
Sport is sport mode which lets you use higher RPM .Those are tranny modes basically.

So I guess I cannot turn on the Sport mode as if my car does not have a switch for that, it is not supplied with this feature?

Cheers,
Tom

Thanks mate for a quick reply
I have found another thread on other forum related to XJ40 - basically the outcome is that only 4.0 versions had this switch. 3.2 versions are 'in sport mode' by default as opposed to 4.0 where by default they are in economy mode. Also 4.0 and 3.2 had different gearboxes - 4.0 one is controlled by ECU - thats the info I got from XJ40 forum

Thanks anyway
Cheers
Tom
