xj40 keyless entry rekey

I have a 1989 Jaguar Sovereign, the keyless entry FOB had flat batteries so I changed them for new ones. After changing the batteries in the FOB, the keyless entry no longer works. I have been told that if the batteries go flat the FOB loses its security code. I have the security code in the owners book. Does anyone know how to reinput the security code into the keyless entry FOB or what the problem might be?

Now I may be wrong about this, but it's possible if it's a four digit code you type it into the radio...I would believe this even more if your security code is four numbers in digits 1-6 which would fit into the radio presets. I could be off though

I´ve replaced the battery in the remote for my 1993 and it didn´t have to be reset. If the code doesn´t work go to a locksmith and have him re program the remote. It only takes a few minutes.
