I think i posted this in the wrong topic

I have a 1988 xj6, and all of the door handles had broken, so i spent about $200 online for the driver side door handle both inside and outside. i hooked up the whole thing and shut the door, now the door wont open. it is always locked. if i pull up on the manual door lock stick the actuator goes up and back down, but i dont think it is fully opening and there is no way for me to open the door, i cant figure it out. Can someone help me, give me any ideas or know how? Thanks

Disconect battery and manually pull the plunger, it can't then go back down.

Also unlock with the key and HOLD the key in the unlocked position for 10 seconds or so. There is an educating doorlock sequence which involves manually unlocking/locking all the doors as you go around the car.

Just make sure that you are in the car when you try it.
