Looking to find out what this part is? I don't see it under any part manual I have, gasket diaphragm, or anything. Looking to remove it and polish but curious to what it is. I am sure I can make a gasket but would love to know.
Based on where it's located and the connections, I'd say it's a PCV valve....makes no sense though, because the airbox would be the logical place for it to land.
I looked in my parts book and yeah - I don't see it either.
It looks like that's a fairly large hose dropping down from underneath it, which I reckon connects to the crankcase so going from there, the size of said device would suggest internal baffling to facilitate separating as much oil from the vapor as possible before it's consumed by the carbs.
...waiting for someone to chime in and lay waste to my pitiful suggestion.

Chris, I appreciate your response and upon reading it, I took another few photos that might help. It doesn't appear the hose is related. It's a weird one for me.

Weird, I have no idea what it is, though as soon as someone calls it, I'm-a gonna feel pretty stupid as I'm sure it's a logical explanation. As the car's fitted with the Strombergs, I'm thinking that whatever it is, it's emissions-related.
At first glance it looks like it's coming off the filter mount, but I'll bet it's connected to a water line instead, right?
Did you removed it yet to see what's inside? - I should imagine a quick look-see will go some ways to explain it's function.

I can't believe on this forum I have not got a real response. Where is Mekon and Jose when you need them? Please help, not life threatening but curious still.
