I have both these service manuals plus the Haines one. The orange one is a shaved down copy of the Maroon one. I like to have hard copy to work from.
I paid $20 for the orange one & $50 for the maroon one.

So firstly, whereabouts do I spray 'start ya *******' into the SU carbs?

Never used the product myself, but I would assume you remove the air filter cover and air filter, then lift the piston with your finger and give it a good dose.

Thanks for the links. Much appreciated.
I gave it a shot last night with "SYB" but unfortunately while I pressed down on the accelerator pedal, I think the cable snapped? Why do I think this...well I looked at the cable from the engine side and it seems kinda slack and the pedal is just lying against the floor...oh well, better it happens now than while driving.
