Default 1985 xj6 vanden plas is here!!

hey guys, my my car is finally here! i called the wrecker service from work yesterday and they picked it up from my dad's house.man,i was excited when it got here.the wrecker driver said it didnt run so,the guys at my shop were all teasing me about it being a jag and not running, the jerks. find out it was reading empty on the rh tank but,it was reading a 1/8 of a tank on the lh tank.i ran to the gas station and go 5 bucks worth of gas, poured it in the tank and it fired right up woo hoo!my dad said it had a coolant hose leaking but,it was spraying coolant out of the radiator cap.my buddy mechanic who was helping me had a extra cap in his toolbox and, that took care of that problem.it ran like a dream when we let it sit and reach operating temp, as i waited for the thermostat to open, and filled the coolant system.

Very nice ! After sitting for 4 years, my 85 VDP also fired right up after I dumped some fresh fuel in the tanks.

This is after the head and everything went on again, as well as about 100 inane questions on another forum

thanks, guys i cant wait to drive it.i've been parking it inside the shop everynight at work now,i'm gonna get insurance on it today and hopefully drive it home in a couple days.i pressure washed her off last night before i pulled her in the shop and she looks much better.what king of leather cleaner/conditioner should i use? and what kind of wax on the outside? the drivers seat is ripped and its gonna need repair but,the rest of the seats are fine,a little wear on passenger front but, rear seats are great.

I use Zymol wax, but Meguires works fine too. I think the "interior" sub-forum has some good suggestions about leather care....exterior as well, I guess.

Polish her up and post up some pics for us to oogle at! I need pictures, as I am illiterate.

Pics to come soon. But I picked up a 71 Xj6 from a guys yard last week for a grand. It was in bad shap inside kinda but Mint on the outside been sittin for 11 years he sad. he got tired of trying to find the issue. Edidently he didnt relise he had to fill the Struambeg carbs with oil. I walked up the car gave him his 1k and he hadned me the title. I took my little magic bottle of oil filled the carbs, primed and then drove off. I loved the look on his face when I did he was blazing mad
