I have a 1986 xj6 III 4.2 automatic & changed the Lucas distributor & coil for a Pertronix flame thrower. I have disconnected the amp & wired the distributer direct to the coil & did the timing,blocked off vacuum set timing at 20deg BTDC @1700 rpm now the motor has more power but it starts breaking down at 4500rpm.Can anyone help please.

All sorted,checked ht leads making sure good fit,checked wiring & something worked as it has a lot more power than it has ever had.Like a completely different car.
