Firstly welcome to the forum.

When time permits please do a formal intro in the "New Members Area".

There are 2 battery +ve wires on the stud at the back of the alternator, and are Solid Brown in colour. Take care with them, coz they are LIVE as long as the battery is connected, and they are NOT switched in any way.

There is also a small "excitor" wire that "plugs in" to a spade terminal which is usually adjacent to the +ve post.

If that excitor wire is unplugged, broken wire, whatever, the light on the dash will always be on.
