1990 xj6 4.0 v6
I recently picked up a 1990 XJR for 1000$. It has 195k miles on the engine and so far runs great. I was really surprised. It actually seems like a pretty nice car. I have not driven it very much and don't plan to. I drove it about 50 miles and no issues. I am going to have it looked over by a mechanic and wondering if the problems are not too bad if its worth putting any money into the upholstery and body/engine for resale? I know the electrical needs to be fixed on a lot of the interior but I knew this buying the car. I also understand the problems could be anything really. The body is in pretty good shape and only has one minor dent on it. The paint could be redone. And I know paint and interior can cost a lot next to engine work. I don't mind putting love into this car if it has the potential to give back. I am in the states on the west coast. I don't plan to do much of the work myself and I know that's another big factor in costs. Any profit even 50$ over what I invest into it would be fine. Just wondering if this car is worth fixing up or should I just sell it as is? I do like the car. Hoping to mabey trade up or should II just sell it as is and try and get more than 1k back?

You appear new, so welcome.
The 1990 XJ6 is know in Jaguar talk as an XJ40.
Much more modern than the Series cars in this section.
I suggest a repost in the XJ40 section, where you will get answers specific to that car.
