I am a new member and just bought a 1990 xj6 2 months ago . Its in the garage to be serviced and the mechanic said I had the wrong make and size of tire. I bought michelin harmonies 205 70 r 15 and he said I should have bought pirellis 215 70 r 15 . Is he right ?

 

I'm nearly positive you have the right size....205/70x15. There should be a label/placard inside the door jamb, or center console box, or glove box which lists the correct tire size for the car.

Michelin vs. Pirelli is just a matter of preference/personal opinion

Good news Nokian make a tire with a XL rating . Its got a harder sidewall and better speed rated and its $10.00 a tire cheaper than Michelin.
