Default 76 XJ6C fuel line

Hello again,

Replacing both submerged pumps on my 76 XJ6C after the passenger side failed. On the driver side, the short rubber fuel line connecting the pump to the hard line was in bad shape so I removed it with the intention of replacing it. However, I noticed what appears to be some kind of brass restrictor embedded in the fuel line.. Did Jaguar embed non return valves in the XJ6C fuel lines?

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, that's where the non-return valve is.....pretty sure.

Rob,

Thanks for the confirmation.

Looking thru my parts book, its not clear what the part number is.... It shows cac1233.. is that it? anyone know where i can get one? I can blow thru it easily in one direction and blow thru it not so easily in the other direction... so i think it may be leaking towards the tank.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi again,

Split the hose, removed the check valve and found what seems to be magnetic gunk fouling the check valve. The gunk sticks to anything metal but not the brass brush i was trying to clean it with... cleaned it out with a blast of air and seems to be working fine now. I guess the drivers side pump was on its way out too. Armature must have been rubbing up against the magnets ever so slightly. It seems they have a screen on the pump inlet to keep debris out but dont have a screen on the output to keep a disintegrating pump from contaminating the fuel lines. Put the cleaned up valve into a new piece of fuel line, buttoned everything up and the coupe is ready for a Sunday afternoon run.

Thanks,

Steve
