Default 77 XJj12 Lost power to the climate control system

I was replacing a window switch and I think I damaged a resettable fuse, I heard it click a couple of times. In the fuse box the 10 amp fuse is fine! Where may I find this animal?

Welcome to the Forums.

Please do an Intro in the New Members Area when the beast is sorted.

You be in the USA, so LHD. I be the other way, and what I type is RHD specific.

BUT

You have a Series 2 V12, so are above normal intelligence, usually.

Where the Parkbrake handle is situated, and the RH console trim cheek air vent is located, there is a fast blow inline fuse.
Remove that trim cheek, and the tin vent thing, and look UP and FORWARD, and you MAY see it. The Poms hid that sucker, warped sense of humour that they have, and it may take some digging, VERY CAREFULLY to find it. I usually fit a 10amp????, its been many, many years, in that holder.
Being LHD you will not have a steering column, Parkbrake assembly etc etc in the way, so I estimate 3 beers, as apposed to our RHD 7.

On the LH side, behind that trim cheek, is a MESS of wires. There is a bunch with a round loom plug. In that bunch, the Black wire has a fuse. About 4 beers if you are clever.

They are the 2 that have caused me grief over too many years.

Not aware of a thermal fuse in that circuit. The thermals in my cars were all window, and central locking related.

Have fun.

I removed the kick panel, the air vent valve is mounted onto a rectangular metal housing. is that housing what you're referring to as the “tin vent thing”.
I have a jpeg pic but the thread will not let me download that file type!

OK,

When you remove the 2 small screws that hold the plastic vent in place on that cheek trim panel, thus allowing that vent plastic to fall away. What you see in the trim "hole" is the "tin vent thing".

On the RHD, removing that metal vent duct (finally remembered the word, duh), and then that fuse holder is on the engine side of that opening. As I said, tucked away, UNLESS someone like me has been there before, and rerouted the thing to a more visible position.

The thermostat for the system is in the same place, so follow the Yellow wires (some have trace colours), and it will all be clear.

Okay, it's going to be a while because I had to switch gears! I have an international 500c Tracked Loader and I need to remove the left Steering clutch pack. Appreciate your help and I'll let you know when I get back to it.
