85 XJ6 S3 Front Silencer Replacement - Exhaust System

Hi all,
am currently pondering on replacing the front silencer in my 85 Jag, would it work if I replace with below photo shown converter?

Expert here are welcome to diagnose this for me.

do you mean the catalytic at the Y pipe ?
that is not a silencer, it is a catalytic converter! why bother with that?

eliminate it completely, it only creates a hot spot under the driver's floor. The car will pass inspection without it, as long as you warm up the engine driving the car for at least 1 hour before taking it to the inspection station, and assuming you are in a state which is still ripping off owners of 1985 cars.

Instead, get a non-catalytic European Y pipe, nobody will know and your engine will breathe better, less obstructions, run smoother, less heat.

Thanks Jose,
Below No. 3 in fig 1 but in fig 5, is No. 1 of the attach photos are the two smaller silencers I was referring to in the initial post which under the car below the passenger doors.

However, you have save me from over $400 cost when I planned buying the Y catalytic converter tomorrow. As you have said, I will replace the cylinder below the Y with a straight pipe as I have already remove the converter substances from that cylinder.

With regards to those two small silencers, can I replace them with something else?

yes, you can replace the two mufflers under the rear seat with generic or standard mufflers.

I took one of the originals to the auto parts store to match them in size, pipe diameter, and pipe orientation.

Beofre i lumped mine, i had one of the front mufflers blow a seam, so deleted them.. here is the thread..

I rebuilt mine as it came from the factory but eliminated the catalytics. The over-the-axle pipes are stainless steel so they last forever.

Well, soon I will delete the cat and those two mufflers and replace with pipes.

Already I have received offers and the lowest offer is bout $11,000. But whoever cash in first will own it and am hopping to let it go by this week Friday or somewhere next week.
