86 XJ12 AC problems - Full Cool Testing question
Hello,
I wanted to run a test involving heating up the In Car Temp Sensor the cigar lighter with the system in "Full Cool" (86 XJ12 VDP).
Where is this sensor? I read the Temp Sensor Inlet hole is "below the center parcel shelf", but a picture or more detail would help.
Is there a way to check if the sensor is bad, instead of the usual suspect Amplifier?
Thanks,
ROD

The sensor is above the glove box door, on the underside of the lip of the dash pad.
Actually, that hole you'll see is the inlet for the sensor. The sensor itself is a couple inches away. The sensor is in a tube that is attached to the system ductwork. Pressure differential allows cabin air to be drawn into the hole and across the sensor.
Anyhow, put you ciggie lighter an inch or so below the hole to simulate a very hot cabin
Cheers

Hello,
I haven't had the time or energy to fiddle with the XJ12, but if I end up buying a new amplifier:
1) Where can I order the best, most reliable one?
2) In general, how readily available are they (should I plan far in advance?)
I'm planning a trip to visit family in the US and would like to pick it up there.
Thanks,
ROD
