Hi I'm thinking about putting some roof bars on my old XJ6 to take a top box. There seem to plenty of 'gutter & hook' kits on the market (including from Halfords) that will fit but I'm a bothered about the chrome strip running along the gutter. The car's in good shape for its age so I don't want to damage it. I also wouldn't want the top box to part company with the car going down the motorway if the chrome strip pulls off. Anyone with any experience with this?
