Default AED for SU 4.2 ltr XK engine

Hi can anyone please point me in the right direction to set up my SU AED or (Cold Start carburettor) for my 4.2 XK engine, it is fitted to a DS420 but would be generally the same as fitted to XJ6. The handbook and other info I have read only refers to "when the engine is hot" this does not help when I am having problems getting it started in the first place. IE from cold!!!!!! It is probably the setting of the Needle that is the main problem, should it be fully closed at rest or should there be a large gap between the needle and its jet.
Thanks.

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XJ6 Series I, II & III forum. Members here with the same engine will be able to help.
