Default American Bumper conversion

I have a 76 XJ6C and was wondering is it common to replace the American bumpers for European style? How much will this affect its show standing?

I've already started a thread on this topic. I was looking to do the same thing but the mountings will most likely be different. You will also need a new hood because the profile of the grill is different. It will be a costly job too.

I have done this conversion on my XJC and it required only slight mounting modification. There is no need to change the hood or grill (I changed my grill for a Series III). Check pictures in XJ12C-XJ6C thread.

As far as show standing goes, it depends on the judge.

Strictly speaking you've altered the authenticity of the car. After all, it didn't roll off the assembly line with Euro bumpers. Some JCNA judges, though, go with the notion of how it "could have" been built.

Cheers
