Default Anyone Ever Seen this Video with a Replacement for the series II AC Amp

It has a drawing you could probably screen shot and it looks fairly easy? Anyone ever tried this?

Very interesting. I'm not an electrical engineer but could more or less follow along with what he was doing. Seems like he just recreated the amp using modern components. But you still have the servo, flaps, etc, etc. Jay Leno has said in several of his videos that they just convert over to Vintage Air systems to get reliable heating and a/c. But as I understand it, you have to do remove the dash and then do major surgery. I'm still looking for a simple to install, reasonably priced replacement. In the, meantime on my 79 I have intalled the manual control switch from Jag-aire along with the simple toggle switches to (1) be able to close off the hot water valve, (2) turn on or off the a/c compressor, and (3) control the fresh air flap. Total control of the system but not automatic temperature control.

It is interesting. The guy has a webpage thisoldjag.com and has a few Jags of different types, so it appears he knows what he's doing. I don't understand if what he is doing is replacing the amp or something else, (maybe because I don't understand what the amp does very well). It seems the thing he created just maneuvers the doors to make a different air flow combination. Is that all the amp does?

The guy is talented.

I part out Jags as a hobby, and when someone suspects the amp, I send a box of them, and they plug them in and try. If one works, just zip-tie it behind the cheek panel. Don't bother trying to remove the original. Send the rest back. It's easy.

Good luck,

Rob

Very interesting.
JagAire.com actually sells both the modern-component amplifier and a manual switch that completely bypasses the amp.
I bought the amp, works well.
