Default Anyone want a coupe project?

Just saw this Craigslist ad. Not mine. I'm guessing in Az.

I just bought a 12C today. I paid a little bit more than the asking price for the car in the ad. Lets just say I feel I chose wisely.....

My car has not been ran for a number of years so needs some sympathetic recommissioning, but I think I am starting from a better point. Time will tell.

The car with the badly cooked paint is a lump.
305 with carb. Note the four barrel carb gasket in the seat.

The text also describes the V8, just a bit.

Well installed and healthy or cobbled and ill.

Note, it doesn't run!!!

A bunch of cash for a car that lacks a lot, rare or not rare????

Oh, transmission health? Probably a mundane TH350.

If a carb is all I needs, it seems the seller would put a good one on and get t running.

Much better opportunity to sell a car that actually runs!!!

or things to hide???

Note, no picture of the engine bay....

n 2011 i sold a 1975 XJ12C coupe, V12 engine, Manual 4speed, rear axle ratio change, to 3.54-1, complete rebuild of rear cage, mounts shocks bushings etc.

a very rare set of SPLINE drive series 3 XKE wire wheels, like new michliens.

it did have some rust(maybe a lot).

it ran great lot of power, a nice ride, sold it for $6500. dollars, i thought i made a good deal, seeing as i got it for nothing just to take it out of guys backyard!

altho in hindsite, probably could have got more money for it!

it went to a guy in MAUI HI. he paid all transportation costs.

Looks a good deal even for double the price of the other coupe. That car is in great shape.

@Jim

Thanks. I have been looking for a coupe for quite some time. I had to travel to Ohio (From California) to see this car, and of course will have to have it shipped back, so it wasn't straightforward, but finding a 12C that wasn't rusted and was largely original, for "not stupid money" meant I had to travel. I travel a lot of work, so the trip was "free" thanks to air miles. This appears to be a very genuine, solid, 3 owner car, with plenty of history and documentation. Rust wise it is pretty good. There is one scab on the drivers side under the rear quarter window, but it is from the outside, not the inside, and looks to have been the result of less than perfect paint prep. The car was painted in 1990, and they did a pretty good job, apart from that one blemish. Floors, rockers, spare wheel well are all solid. Interior is very good, with a lot of work done to keep it up (New headliner, new door cards). Engine bay is very tidy and not messed around with. It still has the original OPUS system, so that may be getting replaced with the REOPUS system. We will do the usual recommissioning.... drain fuel tanks, change fuel filter, oil down the bores, clean the plugs, etc and see if she fires up (Not literally hopefully) Key will be getting SMOG certification for California........

A few more pics.......
