Default BDC8143 Center vent flap not opening.

I believe the part no. is BDC8143, but the issue that I am having is that the center air vent flap will not open up. I have not taken it out, but it looks as if the actuator mount has separated and the actuator rod to the flap is the only connection still holding. I have used a hand vac to try and open the flap through the black vac tube while hoding the actuator in place with no success. Does any one know where I can find a replacement assy?

If you can't locate the part, there is another way to get air through the centre flap.

Pull the facia off and you will find the flap closed against spring pressure.
Push the flap open and you can keep it open with a couple of pieces of wood.
Sounds crude but it does work. I have done this to a couple of XJ6s.
Best of luck finding the correct part for an over 30 years of age car.

Thanks for the info. There was a metal piece someone had shoved in the vent to hold the center flap ajar. I got the actuator and flap out. I am going to take a look inside the actuator and see whats actually in there.
