Default Blue smoke from...everywhere.

'83 xj6 - I adjusted the upper timing chain slack, making sure the engine was in time according to specs. Now, the only way to get it to fire up is to hold the throttle almost full, and when it does fire up, there's blue smoke billowing from everywhere.

Timing order (what I can find on the internet) is 153624, #1 cyl to the front of the car, counter clockwise distributor rotation.

What did I do wrong?

LOL. nevermind. got it fixed. Turns out it had flooded, but cleaning the platinum plugs didn't do anything...bought new cheap plugs and it fired up just fine.

Lawn mowers and old British cars love Champion spark plugs!

LOL, yeah, picked up some autolites for 1.59 apiece. They work great, and you can clean them if you have to.

The car now has been sold. Some very nice people decided it might be fun to tinker with, and I'm very appreciative of them for that.

Before it was sold, it had flooded out, and washed the cylinder walls with gas, causing blow-by. Pull your plugs, let it sit for a few hours, reinstall and see if that fixes it. Otherwise, I have no idea.
