Burnt out dash lights
While I'm investigating a vacuum leak in the console area, I couldn't help but notice some of the dash lights are burnt out near the console and at the bottom of the dash (headlight and ignition switches).
I have heard some of these switches are illuminated by a fiber optic cable and some have bulbs behind them.
Wondering if anyone has a diagram or listing showing where the actual light sources are for each gauge or switch? I don't want to have to take apart any more of the dash than I have to.

Memory here????.
The fibre optics were mainly the ign switch/light switch, a/c knob backlights.
The dash instruments were bulb/globe lit. As were the "idiot lights".
Doug will see this soon, and he is the S3 Guru, so be patient, have a JD or 2 or 3.

Grant has it right.
The fiber optic source bulb is inside the center console behind the gear shift assembly.
If the bulb needs replacing get the correct one. If you get one with overly high wattage you'll melt the ends of the fiber optic cables.
As an alternative I think some vendors are selling an LED replacement source bulb....more light, no heat
Cheers

here's the mod that was made for me by a friend; 7 Super Bright led's mounted where normally there is only a miserable 3 watt bulb. Now I have a bright Headlights switch, which happens to be longest fiber optic cable.
